3A's of Mindfulness

Under the umbrella of Mindfulness we really are developing 3 distinct skills :

  • ATTENTION - which means developing the capacity to concentrate or focus.

  • AWARENESS - scientific name for this skill is open monitoring 

  • ACCEPTANCE - accepting what things are, with love and kindness.

What Mindfulness IS NOT

Mindfulness is NOT:

  • it is not a RELIGION

  • it is not a SPIRITUAL practice

  • it is not a relaxation technique

  • it is not SITTING on the floor in a awkward pose doing nothing

  • a technique to make you calm and trick you into adopting a non-critical attitude to life
